How the trade math works
Each asset starts at its format-adjusted dynasty value — the same object shown on rankings. The calculator then applies two controls. Stud tax discounts each successive asset on a side (best asset full; later pieces reduced) so three mediums are not treated as equal to one elite with the same raw sum. Pick discount scales future-pick values when a contender should pay less for distant capital or a rebuilder should weight it more.
Raw sums stay visible for reference. The verdict uses effective value after those controls. Near-even deals read as even; larger gaps name a winner and often tell the other side to ask for a bit more — or note when future picks make an uneven raw deal still fit a rebuilder-to-contender window. When stud tax meaningfully changes the read, the copy says so.

What fair does not mean
Fair in this calculator means close in effective Dynasty Cheat Code value for the selected format. It does not mean both managers should click accept. A contender and a rebuilder can both prefer a deal the board calls uneven if it moves each window the right way. Team direction after import is the context layer — see rebuild vs contend.
